One of the subjects brought up in the debate Sunday night was Obamacare.
Let me tell you how it has affected me personally and how former Rapist-in-Chief Bill Clinton was absolutely right when he called it “the craziest thing in the world.”
Those of you who listen to my show and read my blogs know that my girlfriend Katherine is pregnant with my first born son. Those of you who have dealt with pregnancy and the cost of all the doctor visits will relate to what I’m going to discuss now.
Before I became the beloved conservative podcaster that I am now, I had a job where my insurance was supplied by my employer. If I had a medical problem or simply needed a checkup, I knew I would be covered.
As I’ve also discussed before, I used to be a liberal. That’s how I was raised. Supporting Democrats was also a necessary component of survival in the business I used to make my living from. I don’t really want to go into what that was, simply Google my name and you will find everything you need to know about my previous career in the entertainment business, and also the price I ultimately paid for being in that vile, but one time profitable enterprise.
I voted for Obama. I supported Obamacare, mainly because I didn’t really understand it. As a liberal, I thought all the warnings from crazy Sarah Palin and others on the right was simply nutty Republican conspiracy talk. Why wouldn’t I believe that? That’s the information I was told by everyone on the left and by pundits on cable news networks like CNN and MSNBC. The Affordable Care Act is great, everybody will love it and it will solve every problem in the nation when it comes to taking care of the sick and injured. I bought everything that was fed to me hook, line and sinker.
Boy, was I wrong. I feel kinda stupid. Crazy Sarah Palin was right, just like our hopefully future president was right Sunday night. Obamacare is a disaster.
When my girlfriend told me she was pregnant, I knew that we needed insurance right away. Kat is 27, so she’s not under her parent’s plan anymore. Like I said, my insurance was supplied by my previous employer. I figured that perhaps Obamacare that I was told was so awesome would take care of everything. Because it was so awesome.
So I called Blue Cross Blue Shield of California. I told the guy I wanted the Platinum Plan, which sounded like it would take care of everything I needed and was in the price range I could afford. I had my credit card out ready to give him the information. The guy said, “Well, you can’t buy it now.”
“It’s not open enrollment.”
“But I don’t want Obamacare. We make too much money to qualify, I think.”
“Doesn’t matter. You can’t buy insurance until open enrollment.”
I thought, “Does this guy not understand me?” I told him that I don’t qualify for Obamacare. I might have qualified a couple of years ago, but not now. I told him about my employer previously supplying insurance and my girlfriend being pregnant and I needed to have insurance.
He said, “That’s a nice story, sir. Congratulations on the upcoming birth of your son. But you still can’t buy insurance now until open enrollment.”
“What do you mean? When I had insurance, I could buy insurance anytime I wanted.”
Well, that was then. Because of the Affordable Care Act, you can no longer buy insurance whenever you want.”
I talk on the radio every day about politics, and here I am not knowing anything about the Affordable Care Act. I used to be a liberal and towed the Obamacare line, and here I am in a situation that crazy Sarah Palin said would happen. Mitch McConnell said would happen. John McCain. Ted Cruz. The list goes on and on of all the people that I used to ridicule (and still do to a certain extent, except for Sarah, but that’s a whole other story) for warning everybody about The Affordable Care Act. They all said Obamacare was bad, and I scoffed at them.
Now here I am on the phone with an insurance guy telling me that the Affordable Care Act prevented him from being able to sell me insurance to cover the costs of my girlfriend’s pregnancy. Democrats and the Obama administration basically hijacked insurance companies. Now everybody has to wait until the period of open enrollment before they can purchase insurance, whether they have the money to pay for it or not.
This is so screwed up, I said. This is what the guy at Blue Cross Blue Shield of California actually told me:
“Welcome to Obamacare.”
Here is a guy at an insurance company shooting on Obamacare. It would almost be laughable if it weren’t so tragic. I get off the phone and had to explain the whole story to Kat. I had to repeat it a couple of times because she was as amazed as I was at how absurd not being able to buy something you want and need is. She was a month into her pregnancy then.
Kat is now five months pregnant. We still have no healthcare insurance. We have to wait another month. Even though we have the money to pay for whatever insurance plan we want, we can’t, because Obamacare will not let us until the period when they say we can. Ain’t that a bitch?
We have no insurance. Let’s say, God forbid, something happens and I have to rush her to the hospital. There is a complication and the baby needs to be delivered prematurely. If my son survives, do you know how much it will cost to take care of him and have him live in an incubator for however many months? Well over six figures. It will cost us over $100,000 dollars for the hospital to take care of my prematurely born son, not to mention taking care of whatever problem caused Kat to have to welcome the little guy too early.
The hospital would then hand me a bill for over a hundred grand. Do you know what I would do with that bill? Use it for toilet paper or pick up poop when one of my dogs (General) decides to be a butthole and crap on the rug. Why? Because I had my credit card out ready to purchase insurance that would have covered this bill, but was told I couldn’t because of Obamacare.
Now the hospital is on the hook for over $100,000 dollars and my credit is ruined. Why? Because of the awesome Affordable Healthcare Act.
This isn’t some nutty right-wing conspiracy talk. This is real. It’s legit. I am personally experiencing the effects of what Donald Trump called a disaster and Bill Clinton said was the craziest thing in the world.
I wake up every morning hoping something doesn’t go wrong. Every time Kat and I visit the doctor, it comes right out of our own pockets. We pay the OB/Gyn $250 every time we go so they can put that ultrasound thing on her tummy and tell us, “Everything looks good. Heartbeat fine. Thank you for the $250.” The last time we went, they did the big ultrasound where they measure the bones and check that he doesn’t have lobster hands and give us a picture that Kat posted on her Facebook. That bill was $890 dollars. Eight hundred and ninety dollars that could have gone for a crib, a car seat, a stroller or a snappy wardrobe for my son. All because of Obamacare.
I told one of my friends my story. He said, “How did you just discover this?” I told him, “I didn’t know. Just like I just discovered Pepe the Frog and that he was a hate symbol. I guess I’m out of the loop. The subject was just never discussed, didn’t hear about it on CNN or MSNBC, so it wasn’t until I needed insurance that I discovered I couldn’t get it.” Like I said. I used to be a liberal. I was a misinformed dummy, like millions of others out there who get their information from these “news” outlets. I was suckered, just like them.
I have another friend who is in the, shall we say, “agriculture” business. Because of the quasi-legality of this business, a lot of the money he makes is in the form of cash, which obviously cannot be reported. I don’t necessarily condone what he does, but I don’t judge him for it, either. There are a lot of people out here in California who are in the undercover agriculture business because it is so profitable. He told me he didn’t qualify for Obamacare because his reported income level was so low, but he did qualify for Medi-Cal, which is the state-run insurance system out here in California for poor people.
I told him, “Isn’t this crazy? Here I have a girlfriend who is five months pregnant, and I have to pay doctor bills that are really straining me financially, and here you are making a lot of money from your agriculture business and the state is paying your medical bills for you and your family. Don’t you feel kind of stupid for supporting Democrats and Obamacare? I know I do.”
My deplorable friend said, “Yeah. But what are you gonna do? It is what it is. I’m working with it the best way I can.”
This is what happens when one party controls the media. All of us were duped into believing that Obamacare was the cure to all of the nation’s healthcare ills and that it would benefit everybody, especially the economically disadvantaged. But here’s the thing. If you are poor, your state already has a system in place that will take care of you. In California, it’s called Medi-Cal. Don’t know what other states call their low-income medical programs. Medi-Michigan? Whatever it is, your state’s healthcare system already takes care of you if something happens and you can’t afford to pay. Will you be able to go to Cedars-Sinai and get the best doctors in the world? No, but you’re not going to be left to die on the sidewalk outside the hospital, no matter what that dummy Ron Paul tells you.
So Obamacare was unnecessary. It was a scam so Democrats and Obama could line their pockets with money from lobbyists of various insurance companies. It’s kinda like when you buy a car and you get what you think is a great deal, then the dealer tries to upsell you a bunch of stuff you don’t need, like TruCoat. If you watched the movie Fargo, this scenario might sound familiar. Obamacare is TruCoat, and Barack Obama is Jerry Lundegaard. The insurance companies are his boss who doesn’t have tickets for the game, but he needs the money they give him. Obama needs his paycheck, just like Jerry needed money. Instead of having his wife kidnapped and being eventually killed, Obama has kidnapped our insurance companies and is slowly killing our citizens with his crappy healthcare scam.
Obama recently did an interview with New York magazine regarding his legacy. This passage stood out to me:
For Democrats, it’s important for us to understand that whether or not we are able to achieve certain policy objectives is going to be primarily dependent on how many votes we’ve got in each chamber and our ability to move public opinion. And it is not, these days, going to be as dependent on classic deal-making between Democrats and Republicans.
So what Obama is saying is that you have to get public opinion on your side in order for legislation to move forward. How do you do that? You control what the public is exposed to. You control the media. You control what the public sees and hears. Democrats control the media. It’s blatantly obvious now. Donald Trump has exposed them for exactly what they are. A liberal propaganda tool that Obama and the left has used very effectively.
Controlling the media is how Obama and Democrats were able to sell Americans on the Obamacare scam. You don’t move public opinion by holding town hall meetings at the local library. You move public opinion by having people like Jake “Hack” Tapper sell you BS. He and CNN, MSNBC, Buzzfeed, Huffington Post, The New York Times, The Washington Post, ABC, CBS, etc. feed you what Obama and Democrats want to sell you. Obamacare. TruCoat that you don’t need or want, but you bust out your checkbook anyway and buy it.
But now the TruCoat is wearing off and the car is getting rusty. Almost eight years later, Obamacare is unraveling before our very eyes. Rates are rising, and insurance companies are leaving because of provisions in the bill that allowed them to pull out after a certain amount of time. Obamacare was invented to be Obama’s legacy. Once he was out of the White House, it wouldn’t matter. It was just something that he and Democrats could say they accomplished, when they all knew it would eventually expire and collapse. Just like the assault weapons ban. Just the the Iran deal that will expire in ten years. Political stunts with an expiration date so politicians can collect money. That’s all Obamacare is, and all it was ever going to be.
The coup de grace of this entire conversation is the infallible Democrat hero Bill Clinton calling Obamacare the craziest thing in the world:
“So you’ve got this crazy system where all of a sudden 25 million more people have health care and then the people who are out there busting it, sometimes 60 hours a week, wind up with their premiums doubled and their coverage cut in half. It’s the craziest thing in the world.”
Couldn’t agree more, Bill. I know how crazy it is. I’ve personally experienced it. And Bill’s wife wants to keep this crazy thing going.
Don’t let it happen. Don’t let America’s healthcare system become a rusty car. Obamacare is a disaster. Repeal and replace it with something that actually works. Don’t buy what the left is selling you. Obamacare is broken and can’t be fixed, no matter what Crooked Hillary says. Hillary Clinton is lying to you, something she is very familiar with doing. So is Barack Hussein Obama aka Jerry Lundegaard, a “f—king liar.”
Don’t take out your checkbook to Democrats, just to “get it over with.”
It doesn’t have to be.
